Florence – at the marina Sept 9- Oct 7

Posted on

After a long stay in Chattanooga we made a 4 day voyage to Florence, Alabama.  Beautiful trip on a gorgeous waterway!
We have seen lots of great wildlife along the way – the swimming deer has been one of our favorites.

The Tennessee River is controlled by dams and each creates a large lake.  My favorite is above the Guntersville Dam.  It’s high rocky bluffs create some beautiful vistas.

A picture does not do justice to the bluffs on the Tennessee River - you just need to be there.

This was a trip for firsts - this bald eagle must have gotten wet in a dive for fish - he was drying out in the morning sun

Just down river from Decatur are a few small islands that the cormorants love - the trees were thick with them

Bat caves above Guntersville Lock

The Tennessee River has many beautiful homes

Here’s an idea – why not join us aboard the Marquette for about 5 years – after seeing all these wonderful waterways you will have some great ideas for a place to retire – that is – if you are able to leave the ever-exciting life aboard the Marquette!

What kind of timeframe are you looking at for completion of the boat?

We hope to start construction in about 9 months and it will take 1 year for construction. If the economy cooperates this translates to around spring 2013.
